Light boxes are made by cutting and layering sheets of paper, arranging the layers in a shadow box frame, and illuminating them from behind using LEDs installed in the back of the frame. Light shining through these layers of paper creates shadows and the illusion of depth in each design.
Each piece is designed on an iPad with Procreate and Cricut software. A Cricut cutting machine is used to cut out much of the design, and then small details are added by hand using an X-Acto blade.
