I create artisan fiber rope baskets by coiling and sewing cotton rope into sturdy forms. For many pieces, I hand-wrap the rope with batik cotton strips as I stitch, building color and texture directly into the coils. Some designs use hand-dyed rope stitched with natural rope for interesting colors. Each basket is finished with my signature hand-polished Lake Superior agates and many include decorative knotwork details. I love to add natural elements and unique techniques.
