Scratchboard is a subtractive medium that utilizes a variety of abrasive tools, including x-acto knives and fiberglass brush, to layer scratches into the black ink layer of the board. Each scratch reveals the white clay and layered scratches create different values and textures. My work is highly detailed, photo-realistic, and contains strong contrast. Scratchboards can also be colored using diluted inks.
