Fusing glass means multi layers of glass pieces or levels of different colors are stacked on each other up to 4-5-6 layers to create a specific design or color.
It is then placed in a kiln up to 1450 F or more and then slowly cooled down- usually taking a 24 hr period.
If a desired shape is required, your art work is then placed on a mold – back again in the kiln at 1275 F – and then cooled down again. Another 24 hr total period.
A fused and slumped glass art work requires 2 kiln times.
